Course Update – Temporary Hole and Access Changes

A Message from your Course Superintendent Andrew Anderson

Please note that from Monday 20th November, the 4th green will be out of play to allow for upcoming works.

During this period, the hole will play as a short par 4 measuring approximately 275 metres. Members are reminded to exercise caution — if you are capable of reaching the green from the tee, please ensure the group ahead and any staff working nearby are clear before playing your shot. 

Additionally, the 5th tee will be relocated to a temporary position at the front of the 5th fairway. The entire area surrounding the 4th green and 5th tee will be designated as an exclusion zone.
Only authorised personnel will be permitted within this area. Do not enter under any circumstances without prior approval from the Course Superintendent.

This week Andrew Anderson also recorded a short video update for members, providing an on-site look at the progress being made around the 4th green redevelopment. In this update, Andrew walks through the recent earthworks, explains the shaping and drainage improvements now underway, and outlines how these changes will enhance turf quality and long-term playability.

He also shares a brief overview of the temporary playing arrangements currently in place and the safety measures around the construction zone.

Andrew will be filming his broader Quarterly Course Update next week, which will give members a more comprehensive look at the program of works being completed across the course as we head into summer.

Senior Pennant Update - Ranfurlie vs Spring Valley

Ranfurlie's unsuccessful season ended at Keysborough with loses from both scratch and handicap teams against Spring Valley.

The scratch team's performance throughout the season was unavoidably weakened by unscheduled medical and work-related withdrawals, a problem unfamiliar to larger opposition clubs with unlimited selection options. Wins in the final fixture for our top two players suggest success at the highest level is achievable and we will be hoping for fewer unplanned absences next year.

The handicap team began the season fielding several players with little or no experience of matchplay golf. It's pleasing to confirm they have all learned quickly and are capable of big improvements next year.

A major change to player eligibility next year is the minimum playing age in the handicap sections will increase to fifty-one, with further annual increases each year until 2030 when it will reach fifty-five.
