Message from our Superintendent
Members,
First of all, I would like to thank those who took time out of their day to join me on the recent course walk. Last Monday we had a group of seven, though unfortunately Friday and Saturday had to be postponed due to low numbers. In the coming weeks I’ll look to schedule some new dates, and I’d encourage anyone interested to come along. If mobility is an issue, we can easily arrange a golf cart for the duration — all are welcome!
Works on the 4th Hole
As part of our vegetation management program, significant work has already commenced around the 4th hole. Preliminary works are underway to prepare the area for both new revegetation efforts and the next stage of course improvements. These works not only enhance the ecological character of the course but also set the stage for the exciting developments to come.
This vegetation work forms an important part of the broader 4th hole project, which will be shared in more detail at the Annual General Meeting, which follows the New Member Night next Thursday 2nd October held in the Amstel function rooms.
Upcoming 4th Tee Works
From next week, works will commence on the 4th tee. This will include a rebuild of the back tee, allowing for a better and more efficient use of space. During the construction period, all play will be from the two forward tees.
Looking Ahead
The 4th green complex has long presented challenges. Our recent bunker audit identified some of the worst bunkers on the property clustered around the green, and we know first-hand the difficulties of keeping turf alive down the right-hand side. Poor irrigation design and high traffic levels have meant expending unreasonable resources each summer just to maintain basic playability.
Hoping to avoid repeating this cycle year after year, the club has opted to address these issues as part of the 4th hole project. By resolving bunker quality, traffic pressure, and irrigation shortfalls, we are investing in a more sustainable and consistently high-quality outcome for members.
We are excited to soon share this vision with members in greater detail at the AGM.
As always, thank you for your patience and continued support.
Please remain vigilant of your safety in and around these scheduled works.
Sincerely, Course Superintendent - Andrew Anderson
