Reminder: New Member Night + 89th AGM - Tomorrow Night

Join us this Thursday, 2 October 2025, at the Amstel Club Function Room.

New Member Night kicks off at 6:00 pm, followed by the AGM at 7:00 pm (free beer, wine and finger food provided).

Why you’ll want to be there:

  • Prizes up for grabs! Be in the room for the chance to WIN A FREE 2026 membership (at your current category) and one of three wine packs.
  • No voting required: The incumbent Board Members — Graeme Percy (Club President) and Will Carter (Treasurer) — have been re-elected unopposed, so there’s no vote needed ahead of this AGM.
  • Sneak peek at the course: As an added bonus, members will be able to preview the plans for the upcoming redevelopment of the 4th hole before works commence in the coming weeks.

We’d love to see a big turnout — so come welcome our new members, catch up over refreshments, and get the latest on what’s next for the Club!

Parmas for a Purpose

From 29th September to 9th November, every Parma you enjoy at Ranfurlie and Amstel Club will do more than satisfy your appetite - it will make a difference. For every Parma sold, $1 will be donated directly to Victoria Policy Legacy, supporting the families of fallen police officers.

This cause is especially meaningful as we pay tribute to the two officers who recently lost their lives in the line of duty. Their courage, service, and sacrifice deserve to be honoured, and their families deserve our support.

By choosing one of our Parma varieties, you're joining us in giving back to those who have given so much. It's a simply act with a lasting impact - a meal shared becomes a contribution to care, compassion, and community strength.

Together, let's show our gratitude, keep their legacy alive, and help provide vital support where it's needed most.

We will keep our community updated with a weekly tally and let's see how much we can raise together!

Lightning Safety at Ranfurlie

With storm season upon us, it’s important to remind members of our lightning safety procedures.

Ranfurlie Golf Club uses industry-leading technology from Ubimet to monitor lightning activity in real time. If a strike is detected within 10km of the course, play is immediately suspended. A siren, flashing weather alert light at the clubhouse, and Mi Score app notifications will alert all players to return to the clubhouse.

Play will only resume once 30 minutes have passed since the last detected strike within 10km. This buffer period is essential for ensuring everyone’s safety before returning to the course.

We thank all members for their cooperation — while interruptions can be frustrating, these procedures are in place to ensure golf at Ranfurlie is always played in the safest possible environment.

Men's Foursomes Championships - 11th October

Members are reminded that Round One of the Foursomes Championships will be played on Saturday, 11th October, with the entire field competing in Stroke Foursomes.  For all Saturday players , there will be a daily net pairs competition for the whole field and we will be using the Mi Club system which includes the Mi Score App facility on the day, or alternatively Mi Score Scorecards maybe used.

The top four pairs with the best gross scores, who are eligible and available, will qualify for the Semi Finals on Saturday, 18th October, with the Final to follow at midday.

Please note: Pairs wishing to qualify must tick the Gross Foursomes Qualifying column in the first week to confirm their entry.

Message from your Course Superintendent

Members,

First of all, I would like to thank those who took time out of their day to join me on the recent course walk. Last Monday we had a group of seven, though unfortunately Friday and Saturday had to be postponed due to low numbers. In the coming weeks I’ll look to schedule some new dates, and I’d encourage anyone interested to come along. If mobility is an issue, we can easily arrange a golf cart for the duration — all are welcome!

Works on the 4th Hole

As part of our vegetation management program, significant work has already commenced around the 4th hole. Preliminary works are underway to prepare the area for both new revegetation efforts and the next stage of course improvements. These works not only enhance the ecological character of the course but also set the stage for the exciting developments to come.

This vegetation work forms an important part of the broader 4th hole project, which will be shared in more detail at the Annual General Meeting, which follows the New Member Night next Thursday 2nd October held in the Amstel function rooms.

Upcoming 4th Tee Works

From next week, works will commence on the 4th tee. This will include a rebuild of the back tee, allowing for a better and more efficient use of space. During the construction period, all play will be from the two forward tees.

Looking Ahead

The 4th green complex has long presented challenges. Our recent bunker audit identified some of the worst bunkers on the property clustered around the green, and we know first-hand the difficulties of keeping turf alive down the right-hand side. Poor irrigation design and high traffic levels have meant expending unreasonable resources each summer just to maintain basic playability.

Hoping to avoid repeating this cycle year after year, the club has opted to address these issues as part of the 4th hole project. By resolving bunker quality, traffic pressure, and irrigation shortfalls, we are investing in a more sustainable and consistently high-quality outcome for members.

We are excited to soon share this vision with members in greater detail at the AGM.

As always, thank you for your patience and continued support.

Please remain vigilant of your safety in and around these scheduled works.

Sincerely,
Andrew Anderson
Course Superintendent
