Coming Back to Our Game - Before, During & After COVID-19

Dear Member

Ranfurlie Golf Club is once again 'Open for Business!'

A Happy and Hearty 'Welcome Back' to all our Members who 'Love the Game.'

Whilst it's not quite 'Business as Usual' at the Clubhouse, the good news is that each of you has made a difference and shown your support to the Club in your own way in these uncertain times.

In seeking financial support from our Members at the end of March 2020, many have willingly paid their dues and done so with great integrity. The trust and support from Members has been astounding where a number of members have chosen to donate their fees during closure to assist in the upkeep of our magnificent course.

As you have seen in various member newsletters the amount of work being undertaken during this closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been really quite magnificent and my personal thanks goes out to all who showed their support through said donation.

I can report that after the amount of works done in the absence of cashflow from Amstel Club that we are restricting expenditure on all 'Non-Essential' items at Ranfurlie Golf Club until we regain a strong footing with significant time to trade at Amstel Club in order that we may recover from this current major business imposition.

Whilst we welcome back the opportunity to play a round of golf with friends and family, it is vitally important that we recognise the change to protocols as we play golf in this new COVID-19 world and the etiquette required.

These are little things, but we are witnessing many changes in the way we work, deal with work colleagues and friends and particularly how we live our lives...

So, with this in mind, I believe given we have been offered this golden opportunity by the State Government to get back out there, we need to make certain that we observe certain 'Must-Do's' for the sake of all Members.

Playing Golf is no different and for all to have a great game, we must respect the course. To that end it is each and every Members responsibility to repair both divots on fairways and pitch marks on not only the greens but the apron at the front of the green as well.

Members must also ensure we are able to maintain the integrity of Bunkers. For those not familiar with the proper etiquette, players should not walk up and down the face of the Bunkers. Instead, they must seek out and find the lowest access point into the Bunker and play their shot and exit the same way. Bunkers require an inordinate amount of maintenance so please help us keep them in good condition.

As Golfing Members who are critical to our Club, I can report that Amstel Club will be opening in a limited capacity from Monday 1st June 2020 where you can enjoy the hospitality offered over various areas within the Clubhouse including the Bistro, Courtyard and Sport Bar. Conditions apply at this time (Being you must have a meal accompanied by a drink/drinks) and the Club will abide by the necessary rules to operate (including room cleanliness, observance of numbers per area - 20 per enclosed area - and social distancing) that ensures a safe and enjoyable experience.

These will be further relaxed to a maximum of 50 per enclosed area but within a dedicated area of 4 square metres (4m²) per Member from Monday 22nd June 2020.

If you cannot find yourself visiting Amstel Club (which I ask that you do support our fine clubhouse), the good news is that we are offering to all Members a 'Takeaway' Food Service from Wednesday to Sunday weekly. Orders for Food can be made from 5pm to 8.30pm on 9788-8217 on these days.

Please take advantage of this service and support this club, your club, in these challenging times...

Finally, in closing, may I take this opportunity to thank you again for the support you have shown to Ranfurlie, your Golf Club.  I have seen many smiling faces and a lot of happy chatter which is indicative of what we are working to create being one of the finest clubs with dedicated membership that is built upon a strong foundation where friendship always comes first!!

Yours Sincerely

Graeme Percy
