Amstel Golf Club – Annual General Meeting Update
Published on 7th November 2025 in Members NewsDear Members,
The 89th Annual General Meeting of Amstel Golf Club Incorporated was held on Thursday, 2 October 2025, with 86 members in attendance. The evening celebrated another strong year of progress and achievement across every aspect of the Club’s operations.
A Year of Growth and Investment
President Graeme Percy reflected on a year of continuous improvement, noting that the Club achieved results within 2% of budget — a testament to the disciplined leadership of Managing Director Dan Muir and Finance Manager Sey Huot. Despite ongoing cost pressures across utilities and insurance, the Club continues to operate from a strong and sustainable position.
Significant investments were made this year to enhance both our member and guest experiences. The Board allocated more than $400,000 towards new course maintenance equipment, in addition to range safety infrastructure, and facility upgrades — ensuring that Ranfurlie Golf Course continues to set the benchmark for presentation and playability.
Improvements to practice facilities, including expanded putting areas, redeveloped chipping zones, and the installation of new warm-up nets, reflect the Board’s ongoing commitment to maintaining one of Melbourne’s finest golfing environments.
Captain’s Report and Course Redevelopment
Club Captain Adam Scott delivered an engaging report, reflecting on his five years of leadership and the unified direction of the Board throughout that period. He highlighted the quality and conditioning of the course under Course Superintendent Andrew Anderson, acknowledging that playing conditions have never been better.
Mr Scott also unveiled the exciting plans for the reworked 4th hole, prepared by renowned Course Architect Mike Clayton of Clayton DeVries & Pont. The redesign features a refreshed tee complex, new cart paths, and improved green design with enhanced pin placements — ensuring both challenge and enjoyment for players of all levels.
Superintendent Andrew Anderson confirmed that work is already underway, and the project is on schedule to be completed and back in play ahead of the Club Championships. This project represents another major investment in the quality and future of the Ranfurlie course, aligning with the Board’s vision of continuous improvement.
Celebrating Leadership and Inclusion
This AGM also marked a milestone moment as Director for Discipline and Inclusion, Mr. Mick Kerin, presented to members for the first time. Mr Kerin spoke about the important role of the Disciplinary Sub-Committee, which ensures that our Club culture remains respectful and welcoming for all members.
He also highlighted the Club’s leading inclusion initiatives, including the continued success of the EveryOne Café, which has provided 270 hours of training and meaningful employment pathways for people living with disabilities this year. Through this initiative, the Club has also raised $6,300 for the SES, reinforcing Amstel’s commitment to community leadership and social responsibility.
Financial Strength and Stability
Treasurer Will Carter reported another year of strong financial performance, supported by $3.6 million in operating cash flow. The completion of the Amstel car park extension has already contributed to record sales performance, while the Future Fund continues to grow steadily under the guidance of Mike Fisher from Crestone.
Both Mr. Carter and Mr. Percy were reappointed unopposed for another three-year term, ensuring continued stability and experienced leadership at Board level.
Looking Ahead
With a Strategic Plan refresh scheduled for February 2026, the Club is well positioned to build on its recent momentum. From course redevelopment and facility enhancements to community engagement and inclusion programs, Amstel Golf Club remains committed to being a leader both on and off the course.
We thank all members for their ongoing support and participation. Together, we look forward to another year of great golf, hospitality, and community at Amstel.
Warm regards,
Daniel Muir
