WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM UPDATE Implementation of the World Handicap System (WHS) will take place next week. In summary the changes will have little effect in Australia with the main points being: 1) A new 'soft cap' at 3 strokes, meaning it will be more difficult for your handicap to go out to the maximum of 5 strokes above your anchor. 2) Daily handicaps will now incorporate the difference between the Scratch Rating and the Par. In simple terms, this means that 36pts in Stableford will be the exact measure as to whether you've played to your handicap or not. 3) There will be an automatic additional reduction to a players GA handicap if the return an 'exceptional' score. In addition, please note Ranfurlie will retain maximum handicaps of 36 for men and 45 for women. Members may have received a text or email late last week in regards to a reminder about the World Handicapping system aligning worldwide from Thursday 30th January. Most of the transition for Ranfurlie will be automatic however special dates and points to take note of: Monday 27th January - Golf Australia Handicap system will go down for Handicap lookup as part of the upgrade process until Midnight Thursday 30th when the system will be up and running. During the downtime members can view their handicaps on the timesheet only and Handicaps shown will be what you were off as of Sunday evening. Member competitions from Monday 27th to Wednesday 29th will not be handicapped. New Maximum Handicaps for both Men and Women will go out to 54.0 GA with individual clubs opting to set their own Maximums. Ranfurlie has made the decision to remain at a maximum of 36 for the Men and 45 for Ladies. Thursday 30th Competition there should be some adjustment to members handicaps with no dramatic change being forecast. This being the first handicap competition for Ranfurlie with the new handicap system. We trust this transition will be a smooth one. |
